Gallery Eighty is a contemporary art gallery founded in Singapore and established in October 2006. The Gallery's mission is to create partnerships with international galleries to facilitate a continuous exchange of visual art and thought between emerging to mid-career artists throughout the globe. Artwork will include paintings, photography, sculptures, installations, media and conceptual-based art.
Gallery Eighty is currently collaborating with Stockholm-based Wetterling Gallery to exhibit works of European & American artists in Singapore. In exchange, Gallery Eighty will use Wetterling Gallery's platform to promote works of Asian artists. Emerging artists in Asia will have the unique opportunity to reach out to a broad audience in Europe and the United States.
In addition, Gallery Eighty endeavors to encourage the local community to embrace art through art appreciation workshops. These workshops will draw on the experience of artists, critics, and educators.
Inspired by Singaporean artist Kumari Nahappan, Gallery Eighty's vision is to eventually help create a seamless exchange of contemporary art and thought throughout the globe, through exhibitions, education and inspiration.
