biography/
Karin Davie explores the relationship between abstraction and representation, with her particular brand of colourful, brash and exuberant strokes. She gives new and experimental meaning to the images of stripes, always resulting in a delightful challenge to interpret various ideas that can be manifest in her work. Although minimalist, it is by no means frivolous. On the contrary, her images center on illusionistic space and tend to be void of hard edges, often swerving off the canvass, and materializing a few inches after. This ambiguous play celebrates the irrepressible image that Karin creates in her work, defying any attempts to box into definable categories.
